Social Justice

A safety net that actually catches people

SUM will build a universal social registry to reach those in genuine need, index pensions and disability benefits to the cost of living, and break the cycle of poverty for single parents and unemployed youth.

The problem

Support is meant to reach the vulnerable, yet bureaucracy delays it and it does not always find the people who need it most. Pensions and disability benefits lose their value to inflation every year. The measure of a decent society is how it treats those with the least, and ours can do far better.

Our plan

What SUM will do

1

A universal social registry

Track and assess genuine need so support is targeted and efficient, with a simplified application process that ends needless delay.

2

Dignity indexed to living costs

Adjust pensions and disability benefits every year to match inflation, with specialised housing, healthcare and accessibility programmes for the elderly and disabled.

3

Break the cycle

Financial assistance, vocational training, entrepreneurship grants and job placement for single parents and unemployed youth, plus affordable childcare, so families can reach independence.

In practice

How it works, step by step

1

Build a universal social registry

A single, accurate record of who needs support and why lets aid be targeted and efficient, with a simplified application that ends needless delay.

2

Index benefits to living costs

Pensions and disability benefits are adjusted every year to match inflation, with dedicated housing, healthcare and accessibility programmes for the elderly and disabled.

3

Break the cycle for families

Financial assistance, vocational training, entrepreneurship grants and job placement for single parents and unemployed youth, plus affordable childcare, give families a real path to independence.

What it means for you

In real life

Help that actually reaches the people who need it, benefits that hold their value, and real pathways out of poverty for the families most often left behind.

A pensioner on a fixed income

Indexing means the pension keeps pace with the price of the weekly basket instead of quietly losing value every year.

A single mother wanting to work

Affordable childcare plus training and job placement turn a dead end into a path to a wage, so the family can reach independence rather than stay stuck.

How it is paid for

Targeting is what makes this affordable. A registry that sends support to the right people, without waste and duplication across disconnected offices, does more with the same money. Indexing protects the value of benefits already being paid, and the family programmes pay back as people move from assistance into work.
