The problem
Justice delayed is justice denied, and our courts are slow. Legal help is out of reach for ordinary people, so the law protects those who can pay for it. Prison too often destroys lives instead of rebuilding them, and returns people to the street more broken than before. A fair society is measured here.

This is largely a resourcing and management problem with a known answer. Digital case management removes paper delay at modest cost, and rehabilitation is cheaper than the repeat imprisonment it prevents. Legal aid is funded partly by the state and partly by structured pro bono work from firms that can afford to give it.
